It’s been a long time since Skell’s done any form of drag, but it’s not through lack of looking for a mesh miniskirt that would fit him. He finally lucked in today, with a miniskirt that didn’t dig halfway through the backs of his thighs. It’s perfectly possible for a male avatar to wear the smaller sizes of some female mesh items (although I draw the line at boobs!) with a bit of judicious shape-tweaking, which some guys might baulk at. But hey, if you’re going to wear a skirt, are you really that bothered about pushing your package slider all the way to zero? ;-)
I guess we’ll begin with the caveat that this isn’t full drag. Skell’s not exactly flashing his legs here, but the outfit didn’t look right with bare flesh (and he was complaining that he couldn’t find the right undies for the skirt. Go figure). However, I have to rejoice at finding this fabulous HUD-driven, massively texture-changeable miniskirt from Yasum. Of course, it’s set to black here, but the options are amazing (and the HUD is… big, so be prepared to peer around it on your screen).
Since I was looking for something to wear under the skirt, I headed (as I usually do) straight into the ‘Sn@tch’ folder in Skell’s inventory. Sure enough, out came these lush velvety pants, but it took several attempts at footwear before I remembered these thigh-high boots (made for male avatars) from Schadenfreude (*squints to make sure he typed that right*). I think I probably made a noise that only dogs could hear when I saw these. How many other designers actually think of the male avatars that walk the gender tightrope when it comes to fashion? Not many, I can tell you.
I got these boots from a Collabor88 event, just before Christmas, so the colour pack that I bought is called Winter’s Bite (black, red, green, etc).
I tried several jackets, but most were too long. I mean, if you’re a guy wearing a miniskirt, you want to wear the hell out of it, and not cover it up, right? In the end, I fell back on this classic from Grasp. It doesn’t show very well against the black background, but the hood on this jacket has the most amazing fur texturing I’ve ever seen inworld.
Bare chest sometimes works, sometimes not. This look needed a little something there, and this crossed silk strap item (taken from a much larger outfit called ‘Vlad’) by Utopia fitted the bill. And, since Skell was complaining that he was desperately un-accessorised (he’s a whiny little bitch today…) I also added this new release necklace from Sn@tch. Multiple texture options for both metals and stones, on a simple thong.
Makeup! Skell’s ever-present ‘Visage Guyliner’ from 22769; works every time. It needed a bit more detail, though, and this chequered mask from Squeek! was perfect. I love the way that it looks spray painted on. Skell’s eyes are the new group gift from IKON (out for the next week) – the ‘Destiny’ eyes in Maya.
Finally, the hair is from Dura (who I seem to wear a lot of when it comes to looks like these).
The whole look:
And, solely because I fucking love this pose (all poses are from PDA), simply because it’s awesome and it’s called ‘slag strut’ ;-)
