The new day breaks like a speeding train, or an old friend;
Ever-expected, but never knocking.
We hie ourselves to the July Mens Dept collection, and the newly-opened Hair Fair today, while I’m listening to an obscure Duran Duran B-side that’s one of my two favourite songs that they ever recorded.
First up, I have to babble on about how gorgeous this new Exile hair is. It’s one of two male styles from Exile premiering at Hair Fair this year (the other is a fabulous long ‘do that I’ll try to put another post together with in the next couple of days) and it’s another of those highly-bouffanted quiffs that I adore from Kavar Cleanslate, but it’s messier and sexier than ever. Completely in love with this!
I’ll warn your wallets in advance: this month’s Mens Dept collection is fucking awesome. I picked up a ton of demos and worked my way through them with gusto. This look hauled itself together in a matter of minutes. I love it when I can make something out of just one or two places, instead of digging deep in my inventory for hours.
This shirt is from David Heather, and once again I had a ‘freak out and buy it now’ moment. Yes, if you look closely, it’s patterned with… dogs. The Mens Dept has more obvious versions (such as white patterned with black dogs) but I went for this all-white version. And it has spikes on the collar, dammit!
Shifting our arses down a smidge, we come to a pair of classic skinny chinos by Villena. These were on sale at a previous Mens Dept, but you should (hopefully!) be able to find them at the Villena mainstore or on Marketplace. I love the tapered skinny leg on these (scroll up for a full-length shot), and how slim the hips are. They work perfectly with sandals or good-quality loafers.
Closing in on Skell’s phiz, I’ve added to my Elton-esque collection of eyewear (seriously, it needs an inventory all of its own by now) with these shades by ieQED. A new-to-me store, I plumped for the fatpack of these, and I wasn’t disappointed. The HUD offers a huge amount of colours and customisation, from frames to lenses to the lens surround.
Also in this close-up, one half of the septum ring set from Just Magnetised. Skell’s just wearing the smaller white piercing in the set here, but it also comes with a larger black piercing. Lots of other colours and metals available, in single packs. This one is the onyx and crystal set.
Travelling aaaaaaall the way down (damn, Skell, your legs get longer every day; you’re a fuckin’ giraffe, mate!) we come to these sandals for Slink feet, by Just Design. As before, more colours are available, but of course if there’s black, then that’s what I’ll grab.
Hands and feet are by Slink, and nail appliers are one of the new sets by A:S:S.
The Hair Fair blog, with all dates and locations can be found here, while the Mens Dept is right over here :-)
