Under a ton: A full outfit for less than L$100

I was wandering around the Gay Archipelago Winterfest today, taking a look at the various stalls (okay, let’s be honest here: I was mainly there for the hot-as-hell freebie from Vitamen) and I picked up a few nice items. The Winterfest isn’t your typical SL fair, because – out of all the many stalls in the location – there’s a fairly equal split between stores and individuals with items for sale, and sponsors and promotions for other gay-friendly locations in SL, such as estates and clubs. There’s also a spot to vote for Mr Gay 2014, but none of the participants really caught my eye (hey, you know  there’s only one boy who catches my eye!).

Along the way, I popped into a couple of clothing stores and picked up not only the Vitamen freebie (you can see the vendor pic of it here, because I’m probably not  going to blog it), but also a pair of jeans and two pairs of sneakers (yes, Skell does wear them sometimes!), and then I found this outfit.

It’s called Voyage  and it’s from Alpha Male. You get the entire outfit: jacket, jeans, bag, and boots (keep scrolling for a close-up of those). The vendor states it’s L$250, but at the moment it’s just L$99.

It was the jacket that drew me to this, especially the collar.

The shoes are rigged, and thus non-resizable. For Skell, they’re just a teeny  bit on the large side, but any adjustments that I would have made would be minimal, so I’ll happily overlook that.

Hands by Slink, Cigarette by Hermony, Ring by Maxi Gossamer, and nail appliers are from By Snow.

Skin by Birth, hair by Exile, and amazing new eyes from IKON, and I want to show you the fantastic HUD that Ikon Innovia is including with this new mesh eye range.

Skell’s wearing the blush shade of the new Spectral Eyes. The highlighting and reflections are of IKON’s usual very high standard, and you get normal ‘old-style’ layered eyes as well as the new mesh eyes in each pack. Plus, you get a special pair of eyes to help you with fitting.

It’s the HUD, however, that blew me away. What do you get in it? Well, take a look at this screenshot:

Skell is wearing the fitting guide eyes, and under those he’s wearing the mesh eyes. Can’t see ’em yet, because they need to be sized up, so let’s focus on the HUD. Top left, the IKON logo minimises everything to a neat box. Lower-left is a button for help. Next along, we have the resizing controls, plus the ability to move the eyes in and out so they fit perfectly. Along the top are the eye textures. You’ll notice two arrows at either end, to page along. The first set of textures (shown in this screenshot) have lighter scleras (the whites of the eye) and the irises increase in size (the same as the original IKON eyes sizes: XS, S, M, ML, and L). Page along once, and you’ll find the same sizes, with a darker, more shadowed sclera.

Under those are the controls for full-bright, plus glow. To the right of that, eye direction controls (not only useful for checking the eyes at all angles, but also a photography tool), and finally a pose, which the HUD will automatically put your avatar in (click the figure to switch it off again) so you can see what you’re doing.
